THE ALLEGORY OF THE CAVE by Plato, Translation by Thomas Sheehan states the prisoner didn't be able to recognize their old fried face and tune who were freed from the cave because they never see the light. the prisoner only see the shadow which passes through in the front. they never experience outside of the cave therefore whatever the freed prisoner told didn't make sense to them.
